Well, someone had hacked into fiction and contaminated it with reality; now fiction was the fata morgana, the ghostly relic on the laptop screen; the untampered PDF was a fanatical construction, at last thankfully extinct.

All America was famous and winning, and if they weren’t, they were famously failing, all America was looking for someplace to compete and to win and be famous, or famously fail. There were only two groups left in AmericaWorld: the billionaires and the singing show contestants.

Reeyonna hated that she’d been born this way, Lady Gaga should have written a song not about people who were born different but about people who were born to remain nothing until they died. She used to think she could never get famous because she had no discernible talent, tho look at Kim, Khloé & Kourtney. But even they had talent, major talent, it was just harder to say what it was, & that was part of the mystique.

Cinematography died and gave birth to the photography of everything.

The peculiar thing was that just before he turned right on Olympic toward Beverly Hills, Bud passed another ecstatic bum in a FUTURE CELEBRITY t-shirt, this one even more extreme than the last in his appreciation of whatever was being unreeled.

Maybe that was sort of the whole point—staying ahead of your readers and critics. It was better than staying behind them, which is what Bud Wiggins had done.
